Coral Gardens of Kouri Island

Got a call from a friend up at Yagaji Island this weekend. He was looking to investigate some new potential dive spots. We came across this reef off of Kouri. The depth is 10~15ft on top of the reef. As you can see from the pic; there are lots of new coral growth spawning everywhere. This site is not marked on any dive site map that i have seen, but it was pleasent to see the new coral growth. water temp: 83F.

Beautiful beaches of Onna village

There's nothing like hitting the beach after a great dive in Onna village. Okinawa has some of the most perfect beaches in Japan and the world. This is a picture that was taken at the exit of the Manza Dream Hole in Onna Village. The Dream Hole is an advanced level dive and each diver should have at least advanced open water and deep diver certified. Yesterday's water temp: 80 Fahrenheit.

100+ ft visibility. dives 1 & 2 were at the Minna island south and north points, for dive 3 we scooted over to sesoko island and ran into a 7ft white tip shark swimming around.

It was a beautiful day out there. Water temp = 85 degrees Fahrenheit. Surface temp 90 degrees. Divers get their brief before entering the water at the dive point called "closeline." Diving on Okinawa is relatively warm throughout the year and is filled with excitement every trip we make.

Manza Dream Hole 8-16-08

We got off to an early start this morning. Our first dive was at 0700 with the Dream Hole. We then headed on to Seragaki Wall for our second dive of the day. Diving on Okinawa does not get much better than this. Two great boat dives; small waves and a little current. But the most important thing of all is that we planned our dive and had a fun time executing it.

Sand was turning up in the shallows, but visibility was approx. 50~70ft depending on the depth.

Here are pics from two of the diving charters that went this past weekend. The weather was great and the current was not too strong. On Saturday we hit Seragaki wall and the Manza Dream hole. While on Sunday we dove Onna point and turtle beach accordingly. All the points are favorites in Onna Village.

White Tip Sharks at Minna Island

So.. we rolled up on this coral head and what do you know... There were 4 white tip sharks sleeping under it. There we docile and did not even seem phased that we were snapping pictures at them, but it was a cool site to see.

100ft+ visibility at Minna Island

We had a great dive today. The trip went out to Ie Island for the first dive and then we headed over to Minna Island for dive #2. The water conditions were pristine. Over 100ft visibility in all directions. The coral reefs and fish color really stood out. The definitely was a (high definition) dive.

Sea Turtle Okinawa

Night diving in Onna Village and we came across this sea turtle sitting under a ledge. We were less than 2 feet from this beauty. What a wonderful sight. Sea turtles move so gracefully in the ocean.
